Softening
Calcareous water is a big problem with annoying lime deposits in pipes, waterheaters, dish-washingmachines, washingmachines etc.
Callidus softening filters reduce the lime content to normal level and prevent thereby expensive reparations and interruption of the running at the same time as the laundry gets cleaner and whiter and the dishes clear and shiny.

The function of the filter
A distinction between two types of ion exchangers is made, cation exchanger and anion exchanger. However they work according to the same principal which read as follows.
When water pass through the filtermedia the not desirable ions exchange for desirable ions. When all ions existing in the filtermedia are exchanged, the filter must be washed clean, most often with sodium chloride solution (NaC1). The not desirable ions will be rinsed away at the same time as the filtermaterial reactivates. This is called ionexchange technique.
The filtermedia is thus used as a conveyor and not as consumption goods.
Softeningfilters
The softeningfilters function to delime the water (remove calcium and magnesium) and therewith make it soft. The filtermedia used is a cation exchanger which use natrium (Na+) as ion exchanger. This gives an increased proportion of natrium in the water. The most frequent problems involved by calcareous water are blocking of pipes, waterheaters and coffeepercolators. It may also increase the consumption of detergent, it wears and tears the laundry, it causes chapped hair and dry hands etc.
Nitrate- and organic tannin removal filters
Nitrate- and organic tannin removals work with the other ion exchanger, the anion exchanger.
Clorides (C1-) are used as exchanging ions which increase the proportion of chloride. Too high proportions of nitrates may develop illness on children but could also occur on grown ups.
organic tannin in waters mostly an aesthetic problem. Increased proportions nitrates and organic tannin is caused by mouldering.
An organic tannin removing filter can not be used as a nitratefilter or vice verse.
Watermeter timer
The NF & DD-filter can preferably be equipped with a watermeter timer which considerably reduce the consumption of salt and therewith the running expenses.
